Rule 5A(9) permits an admitted lawyer to claim one credit for every 60 minutes of attendance (either for credit or as an auditor) at a regular course offered by a law school approved by the American Bar Association, provided that attendance occurred after the lawyer was admitted in Minnesota.You may claim credit through OASIS by entering the appropriate Event Code from the list below and then sending additional required information about the course to this office by email.Select the event code based on the year in which the course was attended.If it was a summer course, you may select either event code.
The system will only allow you to enter 1 credit per credit type requested.Please enter the credit under one or more of the 3 credit types (standard, ethics or bias) for which you are seeking credit.(You will report additional credits by following the instructions below.)
To claim credit for the course, you will need to do the following:
1.Enter the Event Code from the list below, selecting the appropriate credit type.
2.Send an email to webmaster@mbcle.state.mn.us with the following information:
a.the name of the course
b.the name of the law school
c.the dates of attendance at the course and the start and stop times for class(es)
d.the number of credits you are claiming (i.e. the total number of hours attended), and
e.if claiming ethics or bias credits, a statement as to how the course meets the ethics or elimination of bias requirements as defined by CLE Rules 2F, 2G, 6A and/or 6B.
LL.M. courses may be claimed under Rule 5A(9) if taken at a law school whose J.D. program is ABA-accredited.

If you report your attendance at a law school course using the Affidavit Appendix III form, you must pay the $10 paper processing filing fee.Include a check in the amount of $10 with the affidavit when mailing it to the Board office at 180 East Fifth Street, Ste 950; St. Paul, MN 55101.
